Gem Tour
Day 1 Bentota
As soon as you land at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be welcomed by a friendly representative from Bluemen Travels. This representative will take care of your transportation needs throughout your Gem Tour in Sri Lanka. You will be driven in a private luxury vehicle to your first destination, which is the southern coast town of Beruwala. The drive will take approximately 2 hours, but you can sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery along the way.
Upon arrival in Beruwala, you will check-in at a hotel where you will be staying for the next few days. After settling in, if time permits, you may have the opportunity to go on an evening boat ride on the beautiful Madu Lake. This will be an excellent way to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Your chauffeur cum guide will be with you throughout the journey, providing you with insightful commentary on the various sights and sounds of Sri Lanka.

Day 2 Galle
On day 2 of your trip, you will get to experience the rich history of Galle, located just an hour drive away from Bentota. This coastal city is steeped in colonial influences, with the Portuguese having made their mark most prominently. A visit to the Dutch Fort, built in the 17th century, is an absolute must when in Galle. After immersing yourself in the city history, take a stroll around the neighboring area. You will find a plethora of restaurants, cafes, souvenir boutiques, ice cream shops and churches to explore.
On your way back to Bentota, be sure to visit the Moonstone mine at Meetiyagoda. Take some time to explore the moonstone industry and learn about the mining process. If you have time, make a stop at Ambalangoda to check out the famous traditional masks in Sri Lanka or even pay a visit to the Kosgoda turtle hatchery. With so much to see and do, this day is sure to be filled with adventure and excitement.
Day 3 & 4 Ratnapura
During the third day of your Sri Lanka gems tour, you will start your journey to Ratnapura after having a delicious breakfast. Ratnapura is known as the hub of the gem industry in Sri Lanka, and it will take approximately three hours to reach there.
On the fourth day of your tour, you will get a chance to visit a precious stone mine in Ratnapura. The mine tour will give you an insight into the stone extraction methods such as sieving and separating the stone gravel from earthy sands. Afterward, we will take you to a gem market where you can explore the stunning collection of gems, including sapphires, rubies, and emeralds. Finally, you will visit the gemological museum, where you can learn about the history and science behind gemstones. This tour will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the Sri Lankan gem industry and see the stunning gems up close.

Day 5 Udawalawe
On the following day of your journey, you will embark on a two-hour drive to reach a stunning hotel nestled in the heart of a lush jungle. Upon arrival, you can unwind and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the hotel before setting off on a thrilling safari adventure. At approximately 3.00pm, a sturdy jeep will be ready to take you on an unforgettable ride through the breathtaking Udawalawe National Park. This park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, especially its elephant and bird population. During the safari ride, you will have the opportunity to catch glimpses of other fascinating creatures like crocodiles, bears, sambar, and leopards – if you are lucky enough! Be prepared to immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings and witness the beauty of wildlife at its finest.

Day 6 Udawalawe
After enjoying a peaceful nights rest, the following day presents an exciting opportunity to visit the Elephant Transit Home. At this unique center, you can have a delightful experience interacting with adorable baby elephants. The facility provides care for these gentle giants before they are released into the wilds of the Udawalawe National Park. As you observe the baby elephants in their natural habitat, you will have a chance to learn about the various conservation efforts aimed at protecting these magnificent animals. The Elephant Transit Home is an excellent place to witness the dedication and hard work of the people who are committed to preserving the natural beauty of Sri Lanka.

Day 7 & 8 Ella
On day 7 of your Sri Lanka trip, make sure to visit the charming town of Ella nestled in the hill country. As you make your way to the town, do not forget to admire the picturesque Ravana Falls cascading along the way. If you reach Ella early in the evening, you should consider embarking on a two-hour hike up and down Little Adams Peak for an unforgettable view of the sunset from the summit.
On day 8, take a trip to the neighboring town of Bandarawela. Here, you can soak in the stunning landscapes and lush tea plantations while enjoying a scenic ride. Make a stop at Liptons Seat for a quick snack and soak in the stunning view. Sir Thomas Lipton, the mastermind behind tea in Sri Lanka, often sat and savored his tea here. Do not miss out on this opportunity to see the tea country in all its glory!

Day 9 & 10 Kandy
Start your day 9 by heading to the Ella Railway Station for a scenic train ride that takes you through picturesque mountains, valleys, tea plantations, and quaint villages. The journey ends at Nanu Oya, where you will be greeted by your Bluemen travels representative. They will drive you to Kandy, but not before stopping at the breathtaking Kotmale reservoir and the magnificent Ramboda Waterfall for some photo opportunities.
After arriving in Kandy in the evening, you can visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic before checking into your hotel for the night.
On day 10, you can explore the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, which is home to an extensive collection of orchids, royal palms, and other exotic flora. Do not forget to spare a couple of hours to fully appreciate the gardens beauty before visiting the stone museum in Kandy.
In the evening, you can enjoy a traditional Kandyan cultural dance show that takes place at 5.00pm every day. If time permits, make sure to attend the show before retiring to your hotel for the night. These two days of exploring Kandy and its surroundings are sure to leave you with unforgettable memories.

Day 11 & 12 Sigiriya /Polonnaruwa
During days 11 and 12 of your trip, you will have the opportunity to explore some of Sri Lankas most fascinating historical sites. On day 11, your first stop will be the Dambulla Cave Temple Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perched on rocky hills, this complex features five Buddhist caves adorned with exquisite wall paintings, Buddha statues, and stupas.
Overnight stay in Sigiriya
Moving on to day 12, you will embark on an excursion to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. This city was once the capital of Sri Lanka for many centuries, and its ruins offer a glimpse into the countrys rich history. Here, you will find temples, palaces, Buddhist stupas, and statues, all dating back to ancient times.
After exploring the ancient city, you can cool off at the Parakrama Samudra Lake before returning to your hotel in Sigiriya. These two days are sure to be an unforgettable journey through the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
Day 13 & 14 Colombo
The 13th day of your Gem Tour in Sri Lanka begins with an early morning visit to the Lions Rock in Sigiriya. Accompanied by our knowledgeable guide, you will embark on a climb up the rock and explore the intricate paintings and frescoes etched into the rock. As you reach the summit, you will discover the remains of King Kashyapas Fortress, built in the 10th century. From here, you can take in the breathtaking view of the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. The Lions Rock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Sri Lanka.
After this exciting excursion, you will start your five-hour journey towards Colombo. Once in Colombo, you will have the evening to rest and enjoy the city. You can opt for a City Tour to explore the bustling markets, important temples, and colonial architecture, or choose to explore the city on your own and shop for souvenirs.
On the last day of your Gem Tour, you will have some free time before heading to the Bandaranaike International Airport, which is just an hour away from Colombo.
