Day 1 Negombo

Upon arrival at the airport in Sri Lanka, you will be warmly greeted by Bluetravels and escorted to an air-conditioned vehicle for a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Negombo. The transfer from the airport to Negombo will be hassle-free and efficient, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Day 02 Mannar

Your day will begin with a delicious breakfast at the hotel to fuel up for an exciting day ahead. Afterward, you will embark on a 2-hour drive to the Anawilundawa Wetlands, one of Sri Lankas most important birding sites recognized by RAMSAR. Upon arrival, you will be taken on an afternoon bird watching expedition, during which you will witness an array of bird species. Among the birds, you can expect to see are cormorants, ducks, egrets, herons, storks, eagles, terns, swallows, swifts, kingfishers, and many other resident bird species. It promises to be a memorable experience as you immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and its magnificent creatures.

Day 03 Wilpattu

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, preparing yourself for an exciting day of bird watching in Mannar beach and lagoon area. With the beautiful backdrop of the ocean, you can spot a wide variety of birds such as Waders, migratory bird, resident birds, Terns, Ducks, Gulls, Flamingos during the migratory season, Frigate birds, boobies, eagles, cormorants, snipers, plovers, sand pipers, noddies, and skuas.

After this amazing bird watching experience, head towards Wilpattu National Park which is approximately a 2 to 3 hours drive away. En route, take a pit stop at Thanthirimale ruins and surrounding lakes for some more bird watching. The area is home to several water birds and resident birds, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers.

Day 04 wilpattu

On the fourth day of your adventure, you will embark on a full-day safari in the breathtaking Wilpattu National Park. Starting bright and early at 6 am, you will have an entire twelve hours to explore the vast expanse of the park and observe its magnificent wildlife. Your safari will offer a unique opportunity to see eight endemic bird species, as well as eagles, water birds, and other resident birds in their natural habitat. During the day, you will be treated to delicious picnic meals that will keep you energized and ready to spot the parks numerous inhabitants. With its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, Wilpattu National Park promises to be an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of the natural world.

Day 05 Habarana

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a scenic 2 ½ hour drive to Sigiriya. Along the way, you will get the opportunity to witness some of the breathtaking birdlife in the area, particularly near the lakes of Kekirawa. Here, you can spot a variety of water birds and resident birds in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a bird-watching adventure in the Sigiriya Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to a wide range of bird species, including endemic birds, migratory and resident birds, eagles, water birds, swifts, swallows, and falcons. It is an excellent opportunity to observe and learn about the different bird species found in this region.

Later in the evening, you will take a leisurely walk in the Habarana Jungle to observe nocturnal bird species such as owls and nightjars. If you are interested, you may also visit Popems Arboretum in Dambulla, where you can spot the elusive Slender Loris. Day 06 Kandy

The next day of your travel itinerary begins with breakfast at your hotel. After that, you will go for morning bird watching in Sigiriya Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to a diverse range of birds, including endemic, migratory, and resident species. You can observe majestic eagles, graceful water birds, swifts, swallows, and Falcons in their natural habitat. The experience of watching these birds will be awe-inspiring.

Following the bird watching, you will head to Kandy, which is approximately a 2-hour drive from Sigiriya. Kandy is a bustling city that is known for its rich culture, history, and stunning natural beauty. After reaching Kandy, you can take a leisurely walk in the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained gardens in Sri Lanka. The garden is home to a vast array of birds, including Parrots, Pigeons, Woodpeckers, barbets, Bul buls, Warblers, sunbirds, flower peckers, Ioras, and flycatchers. Day 07 Nuwara Eliya

The day starts with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, a morning walk in the Udawattakale Sanctuary in Kandy is a perfect way to start the day. The sanctuary is an ideal place for bird watching enthusiasts as it is home to various bird species such as Parrots, Pigeons, Woodpeckers, barbets, Bul buls, Warblers, sunbirds, flower peckers and fly catchers.

Next, we will be heading to Nuwara Eliya, and it is approximately a 3-hour drive. Once we reach there, we will embark on a bird watching walk in Victoria Park Nuwara Eliya. The park is a great place to spot different bird species such as Parrots, Pigeons, sunbirds, flower peckers, fly catchers, Chats, Thrushers, Wabblers, and Wagtails. It is an excellent opportunity for bird lovers to capture some fantastic shots of these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 08 Nuwara Eliya

On Day 8 of your trip, you will have the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Horton Plains National Park and Hakgala Botanical Garden. The day will start early as you transfer to Horton Plains National Park at 5 AM, which is approximately a 1 ½ hour drive away. Once there, you will take an early morning bird watching walk to catch a glimpse of various bird species, including Pigeons, Parrots, Barbets, Minivets, Cisticolas, Priniyas, Green Wabblers, Thrushes, Chats, Flycatchers, sunbirds, flower peckers, bul buls, and White Eyes. As you enjoy the picturesque surroundings, a picnic breakfast will be provided for you during the walk.

After the walk, you will transfer back to Nuwara Eliya, which is approximately a 1 ½ hour drive away. In the afternoon, you will have another chance to see various bird species, this time in the Hakgala Botanical Garden. You will take a bird watching walk to spot birds such as Mainas, Bul buls, Pigeons, Parrots, Woodpeckers, Shrikes, Blue Magpie, Drongos, Prinias, Warblers, Mynas, Thrushes, and flycatchers. This will be an excellent opportunity for bird enthusiasts to observe and appreciate the beauty of these feathered creatures in their natural habitats.

Day 09 Kitulgala

On the ninth day of your trip, you will start your day with breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, you will embark on a 2 ½ hours drive to Kitulgala. Once you reach Kitulgala, you will spend your afternoon indulging in bird watching activities in the Belilena prehistoric cave area. Here, you will have the opportunity to witness a variety of bird species, including Munias, Flower peckers, sunbirds, flycatchers, Mynas, Babblers, Monarchs, Wabblers, Prinias, Bul Buls, Wagtails, Drongos, Orioles, Leafbirds, Woodpeckers, Barbets, Pigeons, Nuthatchs, Hornbills, and Coucals. Day 10 Sinharaja Rain Forest

On Day 10 of your Sri Lankan adventure, you will have the opportunity to witness some of the countrys most stunning birds in their natural habitats. Your morning will start with a visit to the Makandawa Rain Forest in Kitulgala, where you will be able to observe a wide range of bird species. From Munias to Flower peckers, sunbirds to flycatchers, and Mynas to Babblers, there is no shortage of avian wonders to be seen. You will also have the chance to catch a glimpse of Monarchs, Wabblers, Prinias, Bul Buls, Wagtails, Drongos, Orioles, Leafbirds, Woodpeckers, barbets, Pigeons, Nuthatchs, Hornbills, Owls, and Coucals.

After your bird watching adventure, you will return to the hotel for a satisfying breakfast. Then, it is time to pack up and head off to the Sinharaja Rain Forest near the Kudawa entrance. The journey will take approximately 2 to 3 hours, but the stunning scenery along the way will make the time fly by. Once you arrive, you will embark on a bird watching walk in a bordering village of Sinharaja Rain Forest. On the 11th day of your trip, you will start with an early breakfast at the guest house to fuel up for a full day of bird watching in the Sinharaja Rain Forest. Day 12 Tissamaharama

After a satisfying breakfast at the guest house, the day begins with an exciting bird watching excursion. A village walk along the border of the Sinharaja Rain Forest provides an opportunity to witness the regions diverse avian population up close. With a keen eye, visitors can spot Munias, Flower peckers, sunbirds, fly catchers, Mynas, Babblers, Monarchs, Wabblers, Prinias, Bul Buls, Wagtails, Drongos, Orioles, Leafbirds, Woodpeckers, barbets, Pigeons, Nuthatchs, Hornbills, Blue Magpie, Owls and Coucals. As the morning progresses, the group will be surrounded by the sounds of the forest, filling the air with a symphony of bird calls. After the bird watching adventure, it is time to hit the road and transfer to Tissamaharama. On Day 13, an exciting day of bird watching awaits. The morning safari in Bundala National Park is a must-see for bird enthusiasts. On the 14th day of your trip, you will start your morning with a delicious breakfast at the hotel where you are staying. After enjoying a fulfilling meal, it will be time for you to head to the airport to catch your flight to your next destination. The transfer from your hotel to the airport will take approximately one hour, so make sure to plan accordingly and leave enough time to arrive at the airport in a timely manner. As you travel to the airport, take in the scenic views and reflect on the amazing experiences you have had during your stay.
